The Association is governed by an Executive Council, comprised of three representatives from each of four regions. Executive Council Members are AESA members, too. New Executive Council members are elected each fall. Serving on the Executive Council provides a great opportunity to influence and lead AESA.
Executive Council Election
AESA Bylaws, Article III, Section (b) states “In order to maintain 12 council members and have four-year terms of office, each region election council members three out of four years. The election sequence will be determined by the council with each region having a bye every four years.”
The 2023-2024 national nominations come from the southern, eastern, and western regions. In 2023-2024, the central region has a bye and will not have a nominee. The states in the central region include Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
2023-2024 Election Timelines
- July 31, 2023 Nomination information and forms are posted on the AESA Website. AESA Executive Council
- September 15, 2023 Nominations, biographical statement, pledge letter, and picture are due at the AESA office.
- October 20, 2023 Nominations set or, if necessary, regional primary election ballots emailed to involved regions(s).
- November 10, 2023 Regional elections ballots due at AESA.
- December 11, 2023 National ballots electronically submitted to the AESA membership.
- January 8, 2024 National ballots are due in AESA office.
