Chris Rooney is the Director of Business Services at AESA, where he leads strategic partnerships and operational initiatives that strengthen support for educational service agencies nationwide.
Before joining AESA, Chris built a diverse career in New Jersey’s education system. He began as a Classroom Teacher and Coach in the Manasquan Public School System, then served as Assistant Principal and Principal in the Colts Neck Township Schools. He went on to become Superintendent of the Atlantic Highlands, Highlands, and Henry Hudson Regional School Districts, overseeing academic programs, staffing, and community engagement. Later, he joined the Monmouth-Ocean Educational Services Commission, an AESA member agency, first as Assistant Superintendent and then as Superintendent, providing specialized services to school districts. These experiences gave him firsthand insight into the operational and staffing challenges schools face in highly regulated environments.
In his current role, Chris oversees AESA’s business partnerships, collaborating with a wide range of vendors to ensure they deliver meaningful value to member agencies. His leadership draws on this extensive practical experience and reflects a strong commitment to helping ESAs thrive in their mission to serve schools, educators, and students.
