A Transformative Experience for ESA Senior Leaders
Senior leaders in Educational Service Agencies (ESAs) face increasingly complex challenges and opportunities to shape the future of education. The Leadership Academy brings together a national cohort of ESA leaders for a yearlong learning experience focused on reflection, collaboration, and practical problem-solving.
Expanded Eligibility for 2026–27
In addition to ESA Executive Directors and CEOs, cabinet-level ESA administrators are now invited to apply. Strong, aligned leadership teams are essential for navigating the evolving education landscape, and the Academy supports leadership development across the executive team.
A National Cohort Experience
The Leadership Academy brings together a cohort of peers from across the country through a carefully structured mix of in-person and virtual sessions.
Throughout the year, participants will:

Engage in disciplined problem-of-practice work

Build trusted relationships with peers from across the country

Strengthen leadership through reflection and applied learning

Develop cultural intelligence through an integrated global learning experience
Who Can Apply?
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a current ESA CEO with at least two years of experience, or serve in a cabinet-level ESA position with at least four years of experience and the support of your current CEO.
- Commit to attending all academy events, including:
- Virtual and in-person sessions
- The international travel experience
- Three AESA conferences: Summer Leadership Conference, Advocacy in Action Conference, and the Annual Conference
- Possess a valid passport by October 1, 2026.
Tuition and Expenses
- $13,000 (includes all academy sessions and the international travel experience).
- Each agency is responsible for the participant's travel expenses, except for the international trip, which is covered in tuition.
